how to delete all mods in nmm

I'm looking to do a complete uninstall/reinstall of Skyrim in preparation for my next playthrough (clean palette, as I call it), but I've got TONS of mod files installed via NMM and deactivating them one by one is a pain. And unlike FOMM, there's no "deactivate all mods" functionality to NMM; you gotta do it one by one. So time-consuming... And I can't just leave the Skyrim folder as it is because there's probably hundreds of crap files in it that are just consuming space.

Is there an easier way? Would simply uninstalling and deleting all the files in the Skyrim folder cause NMM to get the memo and switch all the mods to "off"? Or would that make things worse?

I'd like to know what best to do before I do anything stupid.

The only thing you can do is uninstall them one by one. Deleting the mods in the folder can cause NMM to crash. Best to take it safe. I got roughly a hundred and thirty mods installed. uninstalling them all manually takes about ten minutes depending on how big they are.

Great... Too bad NMM doesn't have a "deactivate all" function to speed up the process.

This is gonna take a while...

Deleting the mods in your NMM directory may cause it to crash (though this may have been fixed). If you just delete them all from your Skyrim directory, then delete the install info folder in the NMM directory it will work.

Just reinstall Skyrim entirely. You won't lose the important things, like settings or stuff from Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini.

You can deactivate all plugins to see the vanilla stability of the new skyrim installation

There's a "Uninstall all active mods" button in the Tools menu.

Thanks for the update DuskDweller. I want to deactivate my mods all in one go but the "Uninstall all active mods" button has me worried it will DELETE my mods. I dont want to have to reinstall serveral gigs of data if this is the case. Can you clarify what exactly "Uninstall all active mods" does? Thank you.

If all you want to do is just disable all the plugins, there's a "disable all active plguins" button on the left bar of the plugins tab.
If you want to uninstall all the mod files from your game's directory (but keep the mod archives to reinstall them at a later date) you can click that button in the tools menu.

Well, clicking that button brings up a progress bar that never goes forward. It's stuck at the very beginning, and it just won't move. Clicking cancel after that does absolutely nothing. The cancel button gets grey, and the progress bar stays there. I have to manually finish NMM's process in the task manager.
